blinker help
Hello, I took my truck out driving for the 1st time in a while, and noticed my blinkers stop blinking when I press the brake pedal. I also have both sides come on when I put the left or right side on. I also have the backup lights come on when I put the brakes on. All kinds of problems going on. Any suggestions on where to start? All of my wiring from the cab forward has been replaced with new harnesses a few years back. It is a 70 c 10. Thanks

Two words... Ground straps. From the engine to the frame, from the frame to the core support, from the frame to the bed, from the back of the engine to the cab (on both sides). Check the ground wire by the gauge cluster that clips to the dash. 90% of those kind of issues are because of bad grounds. The other 10% is usually bad bulbs or bad bulb contact inside the socket. Take all of the bulbs out and clean the base of the bulbs and the sockets.... Report back. LockDoc

Re: blinker help
Thanks for the response. After a little more deep thought, I remembered I had "fixed" a set of wires under the bed that had a bare spot in the insulation. Well, it turns out I shorted together the wires. Undid what I did and works just fine. I sure am handy at fixing things.

Re: blinker help
Try spraying contact cleaner into the hole on the steering column where the switch lever is attached.

Re: blinker help
I got the blinker problem fixed with the spot that was bare that I fixed, but know the backup lights are coming on with the brake lights when I push the brake pedal. Any thoughts on what would be causing that?

Re: blinker help
Never mind, same problem as before. Just didn't fix it correctly the 1st or 2nd time.
