Prothane body mounts
Has anyone installed Prothane body mounts? I need help. I'm having a tough time understanding the directions. The kit comes with and calls out for on the directions for 6 seperate mounting locations. As far as I can see there's only 4 mounting locations for the cab. Please help! Thanks

The kit also contains core support bushings.

Ok that's explains that. The core support the kit comes with must only work with 69-72. My 68 has a smaller hole on the core support mount and will not acomedate for the one that comes in the kit. According to LMC catalog 67-68 is a different mount kit. Does this sound right?

after you figure out what goes where and finally install them you can rip them out and throw them away after you ride with the harsh ride for 50miles or so
the factory rubber mounts are the way to go

Then you can rip those out and replace them in 50 miles because the rubber is cheap. You just can't get rubber like you use to just does not last long.

Our rubber cab mount kits are made in the USA. Should last as long as the originals did. WES

Got me feeling good about my purchase guys! i didn't think polly mounts would make that much of a difference. we will see in like. 10 years when I finally finish my truck.

Looks like mixed reviews. I guess since I've already purchased the Prothane mounts then I'll give those a try first. I hope I don't regret it.

I am not sure what you mean by stuff falling off. I have never had anything loosen up on any of my trucks with poly mounts. I make sure everything is tight when I work on my trucks. I also have never had a problem with my mirrors. I do agree the ride is a little stiffer but not that bad. Onto the original post the poly mount kit comes with 6 bushing sets. The extra 2 are for 69 and up core support. You have to get a 67-68 core mounting kit they do not make it in poly. Make sure you buy a good kit or it will dry rott while your installing it. Further more I have never gotten good life from rubber cab mounts no matter were they are from.

I have never had any problems running poly mounts either.
Some people are just so full of bitterness, that it seems to ooze out every time they touch the keyboard.

Ah, poly vs rubber mounts, one of those topics that brings out the "polite discussion" on this board.
I'm sure some guys can tell the difference. I can't. I put polys in my truck and it rides just fine. Nothin' fell off either. Plus they look all cool and red when I have the truck up on a lift and that makes me smile... |

Just an FYI, I have had 2 customers come in that have had the bolts pull through the floor using urethane mounts. Granted these were 4X4s and there frames probably were flexing more than a 2WD. However the facts are you have a flexible chassis and you can't change that without boxing it. Urethane bushings are not flexible, not even a tiny little bit. Now consider that your cab in spot welded together making it non flexible. At least to the point when it does flex the metal starts to fatigue. It fatigues around the spot welds in the areas that the cab is forced to flex, eventually splitting the metal. Eventually you start hearing rattles and pops, and if the problem is not addressed things finally brake. This is why in any application where a flexing or vibrating part is mounted to an inflexible part, rubber bushings are installed. WES

a friend of mine just replaced his whole suspension front to back with a Hotchkis setup with the poly mounts also and it does not ride too harsh at all
long bed and all it does stick to the road pretty good fun ride!!

I've had both in the past, and now with my current build I'm running urethane for all my suspension bushings and rubber for all my body mounts. I did have 2 of my rear cab mounts brake ( The brackets riveted to the frame ) running urethane, not saying it was caused by the urethane, just putting it out there. And yes all my trucks have been 4x4's.
I never did have any other metal fatigue and crack, here in New England it usually rusts away first !!!! "LOL"

I bought the prothane 7-101 kit for my 67 shortbed can't remember where I got it now that I mounted the cab I cant get the bushing to fit it he holes for the radiator support the holes are too small on my frame. I could drill them out with a step drill bit but I'm concerned that will screw up the alignment of the fenders. If I buy the correct core support in rubber might not work with the prothane cab mounts. The instructions that come with the kit are generic for all trucks so I don't recommend this kit. I noticed prothanes website they don't have a tech support number to call either.
