problem with brake bolts

i ordered some doorman brake hoses for my front disc brakes. when i screwed them in to the caliper only about 1/4 inch of thread goes in. when i tightened the hose i stripped the tip of the screw. i threw away my old brake hoses so i cant compare them to the new ones but im sure the head was a bit thinner so the screw would go into the caliper more. Has anyone else had this problem?? do they sell a longer screw?

I sort of had the same issue, because i wanted to replace everything and thinking that the bolts would come with the new caliper (WRONG!) I threw them away. When it came time I took the caliper and hose to NAPA and found the correct bolts. I remember them having different length bolts.

ive been looking for longer ones and had no luck. autozone and advanced wont help either. im just going to order different brake hoses and hope the head where the bolt goes is slimmer

You did not mention the year or years of truck involved. GM switched from SAE to metric banjo bolts at the 78/79 years I believe. The hose block is matched to bolt type. A mixed set will not work. There should be no longer or shorter banjo bolt, only the correct banjo bolts.

I did some real head scratching when I did my disc conversion on my '70. I sourced all the parts my self, so I had to research everything, even though I've been doing brakes for 20 years.

my truck is a 69 but the front discs come off a 71 or 72. banjo bolt thread is 7/16 -20. the hoses it came with orginally fit fine but were cracked. i ordered new doorman ones from partsgeek. maybe the hoses i got were from a newer truck

now that im reading over my original post i realize i didnt explain myself too well. the hose block in my original hose was more slim than the hose block in the new hose. the banjo bolts were the same but due to the now fatter hose block, theres only 1/4 inch usable thread. im guessing they sent me hoses that were from a newer model. the banjo bolts fit fine before with the old hoses and had almost a half inch of usable thread. the banjo bolt is the correct one because i checked the length of the oem one and its good

i stripped it because theres only this much thread. also the original hoses were brass. does anyone know where to find them?

I'm in the same boat, must have thrown away one of my bolts. I bought centric hoses and I can measure them tonight -- what's the height on your ends?

Those are 72 + hoses. 71 used the big square ends. 72 used that style and i think 73+ hoses were just a bit longer. Are the calipers 71 or 72?

im not sure what year the calipers are. i bought a parts truck without title

Someone on here posted pics of caliper differences. Do a search and youll know which bolts youll need

I believe so as long as theyll sit flush to the caliperwith a copper washer

I'm guessing they need the longer bolt also -- anyone have a lead on the correct bolts? I have an order for advance auto sitting in my cart and should add these to it if available.

ive looked through many pages searching with different terms and havent found a longer bolt, just the same one. ive given up on that. also if anyone orders hoses just like the original ones id appreciate it if you could post pics or a part number
