Question 1958 Golden

I think I might have a 58 Golden edition. Any ideas on how many were made?

Re: 1958 Golden

According to a little Googling, it's extremely rare. Does the paint code on the door tag say "SPEC"?

Re: 1958 Golden

As mentioned, ID tag should have SPEC stamped in the color. No clue on production numbers. (sorry about the large pic, not sure how to make is smaller)

Re: 1958 Golden

is it gold? or any gold paint anywhere? All Goldens had some gold paint scheme some where usually inside. Spec. doesn't always mean golden, Spec was Special Paint which could have been telephone truck green or some other special color needed by a commercial end user that GM didn't provide as an option to the public.

Re: 1958 Golden

Yes its gold with remnants of the honey beige coming through an old repaint, and the vinyl parts of the bench seat are gold to. the upholistery fabric is different but close to Cameo/deluxe. I would like to get correct pics of one.

Re: 1958 Golden

My '57 panel was ordered as a Helms Bakery truck, for home deliveries around Los Angeles.

No...this not me sitting here:

#1 is the factory yellow and #2 is the "Helms" yellow, a second color.

This one is a gold 58 that needs restoration. I've never seen one before.

Re: 1958 Golden

Have you uploaded your pics to an online hosting site like Photobucket?

Re: 1958 Golden

I've never used a photo host, as long as you have them loaded on your pc then just click "attachment" (paper clip) browse and upload the photo.
This is what I just did as example

Re: 1958 Golden

you can't do it from the Quick Reply, click the "Go Advanced" button, it'll take you to a more complete reply screen. Scroll down till you see "Manage Attachments", click. brings up a screen where you can select files to upload. You'll need to know what folder they're in.

Re: 1958 Golden

Nice find, now the decision to restore a very rare truck or ??? I cannot tell you what to do with your truck but I think you could find someone with sort of deep pockets who would want to take on restoring a very rare model and pay you enough to get a nice replacement to rod....big bonus if the engine, etc. is matching numbers....

For those that know very little about trucks, like me, what gold anniversary was this for?
