Re: Leaking gear lub
Are you sure it's leaking from the tube and not from the differential housing cover ? Easy way to tell clean the area with carb cleaner dry it well and dust the area with baby powder and drive the truck again ,check it and the powder will turn dark and wet to show you were the leak is coming from if it is the tube shaft re clean the area and just use any type sealant or even a thin coat of JB weld to seal it up as there is no appreciable pressure to push the lube past a thin coat of automotive grade sealant .

Re: Leaking gear lub
I am absolutely sure that it is coming from that spot weld. The. truck has undergone a frame off resto with the rear end blasted and power coated I can completely wipe it down and then trace it back to that spot weld. I thought about using some jb weld or some other type of sealant but my question is do I need to rough up that area so that the sealant will adhere thanks for any and all response.

Re: Leaking gear lub
Make sure your vent tube is not clogged. That is the leading cause of rear end leaks.

Re: Leaking gear lub
take it back to whoever did the rear axle work and just have them put another spot weld on it , you paid them once if it's leaking they should fix it no questions asked , It should take all of 5 minutes .
