Starting my 5.3 swap soon

Picked up a 2000 GMC short bed extended cab with a 5.3 and 4 speed auto.
Plan is to swap the drivetrain into my 62 c10...I plan on modding the harness and running the fuel injection and coil on plug ignition. i will be using the 5.3, tranny, radiator, steering column if possible as it is tilt, driveshaft...not using the rear end as my truck is converted to 5 bolt. Anyone got any hints?
Paid $1000 for the donor and hope to recoup some by selling off parts..

Re: Starting my 5.3 swap soon

I just finished a 5.3 swap in an S-10 and found this site.LT1 swap very helpful as far as wiring goes.
I had him reprogram the computer also.

http://lt1swap.com/index.htm

I just bought a 61 and thinking of an LS swap for it, because the s10 worked out pretty well but I haven't made up my mind yet.
Hope this helps, Bud

I know the 67-72 tilt columns are a bit smaller in diameter than our years, so you have to either modify the bracket or thicken (pad) the column some. I have not done any later than that. I have heard the years like your donner truck are way fatter and require a fair amount of work to fit the stock dash mounts.
