Any way to brighten up a quadrajet?
I just cleaned my quadrajet, got all the crap off it but is an ugly color. Is there anything I can spray on it to brighten it up? I was thinking acid but I've seen acid eat die cast parts. Any suggestions?

Re: Any way to brighten up a quadrajet?
I have used Simple Green to soak things in over night and they have come out sparkling clean. Here is the original carb riser, hose clamps and spark plug heat shields from my rig after soaking in simple green over night. No scrubbing or polishing just soaking.
I have heard that one could do an entire carb and get the same results but I have not tried it. |

Theres some stuff that jimbosprint used on his exaust headers, I think it may only be for cast iron, but it might be worth a try, its called, Calyx.

Re: Any way to brighten up a quadrajet?
Eastwood sells a "Carb Renew" that approximates the original goldish color. I wouldn't use Calyx on a carb. There are too many linkages that need to move smoothly and that could really gum them up.

I don't get it. Why not use carb cleaner? Soak overnight.
