Truck not starting

Ive got a 64 C20 that I take on parts runs and what not and its got a crate 350 in it that runs great. But the other day I went and parked it for the night and came back the next day to start it and drive it and it just cranked and cranked so I checked for fire and nothing. then shortly after it started to do absolutely nothing when I turn the key. It has an HEI distributor in it, I replaced the module in it thinking maybe thats what it was. PO said when it would rain that it wouldnt start sometimes but its been dry. i tried a new ignition, checked my wires to the distributor, to my starter etc. Nothing adds up. I turn the key and nothing happens. So im thinking maybe a new Distributor? Idk..Ive given myself headaches over this lol so any help owuld be appreciated.

Re: Truck not starting

Have you checked to see if you are getting power to the starter and the HEI? If not, check the firewall plugs. My first '63 used to have problems with the large plug on the drivers side.

Re: Truck not starting

I'm getting my voltage to the distributor and all the connections look fine.

Re: Truck not starting

Have you checked to see if the distributor is turned. My distributor hold down bracket broke and the distributor started to turn which made it not start. Also the first thing I would check is my battery and alternator. Just because there was is enough juice to turn the engine over doesn't mean there is enough to run. Are you getting gas to your carb. You might have drained the battery trying to start it.

These are the easy solutions I can think of. If you already new these things I am sorry I don't know how much knowledge you have.

Re: Truck not starting

x2 on the starter, a bad solenoid can cause the problems your describe. I would pull it off, take it to autozone or wherever and have them bench test it. Also pull the dist. cap and check for corrosion on the rotor and contacts
