Indoor Covers, tell me about yours

My truck is black and collects dust FAST in the garage. What kind of cover do ya'll use? Happy with it? Is it a custom fit or universal? Any problems scratching the paint?

Not to hijack but I was going to ask about exterior too, my Chevelle may have to winter outside this year....

I do know that blue/grey tarps will scratch and hold in condensation... I use old sheets inside to cover mine keeps the dust off and breathes, but we have relatively low humidity here in the high desert.

Re: Indoor Covers, tell me about yours

why cover your truck if it's inside? i've never covered truk, just take it thru the carwash in the spring
black trucks don't collect dust faster than yellow trucks, it just shows more

for orrieg's chevelle? bring it here, i have a spot for it next to truk
truk would like some company for the winter

and a reminder for some of you doorknobs... put antifreeze in your engine !!!
nothing like a cracked block to put a damper on the project

Ogre, if you were close enough to drive to in a day we would have already had a beer or two....

Here is an idea I just saw on facebook....someone did it for an old navy store that still has the truck.

Check out California Car Cover. For outdoor use they have one called the Noah. I had one and it was great.

I'm just not comfortable washing it yet with the wood bed and no drains. That bed took me FOREVER to assemble and I don't want to do it again to replace rotten wood.

Re: Indoor Covers, tell me about yours

the first bed lasted 60 years and probably never was parked inside or under a roof
installed correctly any water will drain out the front of rear

and orrieg? wtf? that's a lot of knitting

stop by anytime, your only 40 hrs away and always cold beer in the shop

You sound like my best friend, He didn't want to drive his 48 Pontiac ragtop because he might get it dirty and was afraid to get it wet. If the bed has the proper finish on it and you dry it off just like you dry off the rest of the truck there shouldn't be an issue. You did use a marine finish for boats and not a kitchen cabinet finish?

As far as covers go: California car cover company will make one that is an exact fit for your truck including the bumps for the mirrors and offer several different fabrics depending on how you want to use the cover. You could also go to the discount bedding aisle and buy a couple of king size flannel sheets to cover it with that would keep the dust off and be soft on the finish.

71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
