A couple questions on 62 power steering conversion

Ok just to start off, I used the search feature on the forum to already answer most of my questions with this topic. I only have a couple left hoping to get resolved.

Just bought a 62 c10 stepside with a 396. The steering box was missing and I thought great time for power steering upgrade.

I already ordered the 60-62 CPP conversion box brackets (which is only $55 on ebay right now instead of the usual $95, by the way)

First, specifically what application do most guys use for the steering box? I know CCP specifies 69-87 2wd, but I see there are different generations of boxes in there. I see different listings for 68-76 ; 77-79 ; 80-86. I assume the changes from year to year are going to include the usage of o-ring fittings instead of flares, but I didn't know if there was a more desirable ratio-box in there or what.

Second question, is what do you use for the pittman arm? Stock 62, or is there a specific model 69-87 c10 that uses the right length and angle arm? Mine is missing so I have nothing to mock/compare setup

And lastly, before I go digging on Rock Auto all night looking at specs and pictures of high pressure hoses, is there one that is standard to use for these trucks? I know I can always just make my own with black AN hose, but I rather just get a $15 stock appearing one

Thank you for the input, I didn't think CPP would be very interested in helping me bypass their $700 complete kit by assembling my own $300 rock auto version.

Ok I thought I'd post my findings to help future users that can search the forum and find answers instead of posting new threads like myself. Info straight from CPP

CPP basically recommends using a 72 c10 for the application on all parts, but here is the specifics I was told by CPP:

-Only difference with the box is 68-76 has simple inverted flares, so its preferred
-Should use a 71-72 Pitman arm (listings show they used the same arm from 68-72 c10)
-Try to use 68-78 high pressure hose, keeping track of the fittings for your pump (3/8, 7/16, male, female, etc)

but in a nutshell, if you use 1972 c10 for all the info, you're good to go. My entire conversion (with a chrome power steering pump and billet pump brackets) is costing $369 plus some shipping

The '68-'87 C series steering boxes are interchangeable as well as the pitman arms. The one difference as already mentioned is the use of SAE hose fittings thru '79-'80 and Metric with an O-ring from '80 up. Which factory replacement hoses to use will depend on whether your engine has a short water pump or long water pump. All trucks '72 and earlier came with short water pumps whether small block or big block.
