Blower whining!

My blower is making an awful whine that comes and goes. When it comes you can tap on it and it will stop and then start again. Is this a bearing gone or going bad? Is there any way to fix this or should I just just replace it? Any help is appreciated!!

Re: Blower whining!

Afternoon, You really answered your own question. Just replace it. There not that expensive new or get one used. Used your likely to replace it right away so I say get a new one. They aren't hard to replace, a few self tapping screws that have hex heads if I remember and unplug the connector. Reverse order to install. Now this is if it's non-ac, with ac I don't know as mine is heater only.

God Bless, Terry

Re: Blower whining!

There was a way to punch a hole above the bearing and putting a few drops of light oil to help cure the whine, the preferred was just replace the blower motor. IIRC, without the squirrel cage about 25 bucks.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Thanks for the input fellers. I think I'll try to punch and lube for ****s and giggles. I'll end up replacing but I'll let y'all know how I did it and if it works on the fix. Always looking for a cheap and handy fix!!

Re: Blower whining!

SOOOOO I opted to change out the old for a new motor after looking at it. Question< is there a gasket that goes with this or should I use gasket maker? There was one one it but it broke apart when I removed the old motor..
