Taillight Idea, what do you think?
I had this idea for taillights for my truck, and it included a set of 70 Camaro taillights. Unfortunately, those are about 5 1/2" diameter circles, and I'm not sure they'll fit on the steps. So I came up with the 68 Charger taillights. I'm not sure if they are the correct size or not, but what do you think? As you can see, I'm not that great with photoshop yet, but you get the idea. The second is another idea I had, and what I'm leaning torward right now when I finally get to modify and fix my truck when I'm out of college in a few years. Let me know what you guys think.

The pictures are kinda bad since you can't see the outlines of the steps due to the white tarp behind it, but you get the general idea. Also, the truck will be lowered, have a bumper, and be a dark color when I'm done, Cherry Red, Rootbeer, and a dark green are the ones I'm debating on right now.

One of the board folks, (bobs409 I think) has 65 impala light in his step and they look real good. But I agree, the upper shot looks better...More factory like and cleaner looking.

I think the vertical placement looks the best. By the way, does anyone know how to make custom taillight lenses? I think you can buy the lens plastic in sheets, but not sure.

I like the first pic best, if you can't find charger lights, I think bob409 used 65 impala tail lights

Yeah, I had thought of using the Camaro Taillights in a rollpan...until I got them in the mail and noticed that they were HUGE. I'd never get them to fit in a rollpan and still clear the framerails behind it. I never even thought of trying the Impala or Charger taillights in the rollpan though. Wonder why? Must have been a brain fart.

Some other ones that you might consider would be the 1960-64 Impala's, Corvairs, 1959 Caddy (just watch you don't walk into them in the dark!) BTW, those can be had from J.C. Whitney of all places.
Alot of the older cars from '54 and back used small lights. Lots to pick from there. Im considering making my own Bowtie shaped lights and frenching them into the fenders. LED's would be nice too. Maybe a nice winter time project... This winters project is "making" a floor shifter. I've decided to make my own using my B&M Star shifter and the staple type shifter in my '72 Chevelle for inspiration. Taking some ideas from them and conjuring up a few of my own. I've already got a good pic of it in my head. Will have polished aluminum diamond tread for the top with a built in lighted shift indicator... Woah, im getting off the topic! LOL
