what color should I paint my 250?

So I picked up this running 250 for $175 ! I'm gonna reseal everything and paint it and dress it up a little before I put it in. I'm looking for opinions on what color I should paint it. It has that weird one piece intake/head. I haven't decided if I should run it like that or use my old head.

Pink. Definitely pink. Hmm... or maybe lime green. Yep, lime for sure! No wait... How bout brown? Yeah, never seen a brown one. ...Well alright, now that I think about it, maybe Chevy 250 six cyl engine blue, like the color it was when new is a better choice.

my engine builder has that same GM blue on his shelf, i was tore between the blue and green. i went with the green... hey Bruce which is correct for the 250,292 cuz i've seen blue on the 250 and both green or blue on the 292...

Re: what color should I paint my 250?

The 194-230-250 were blue and the 292 was green...if your wanting an original look then blue is a good choice...basically this...whatever color you paint your truck, paint the engine similar. I think a somewhat dark blue for the pan, block, and head...the same for the valve cover with a black or silver stripe down the center..like mine(pictured below)...The the exhaust manifold cast iron grey with a blue or silver intake and a black air filter. That's my opinion.

Re: what color should I paint my 250?

I used THIS Eastwood high temp paint. I'm happy with the color and it's supposed to be correct. I'm happy even if other folks don't think it's factory correct.

Wow tj. That motors amazing. The truck is green right now and the current engine is orange. That original looking blue is looking pretty nice so far.

Re: what color should I paint my 250?

If I end up using the one piece head/intake, will that paint hold up?

Don't use the integral.

And I vote for Detroit Diesel Green.

Re: what color should I paint my 250?

anything but orange!!!!!! the motor looks like a 292 if it is alpine green if it is a 250 blue. or even like the new motors --black with some chrome? and get rid of that head prone to cracking
