Hey guys I need input on my new suspension, pros and cons. check my build thread pictures and reply in this post or build thread. I need to know if it will work the way it is or if I need to make changes.

since your going with the 4 wheel drive, i'm not sure why your going to 4 link in back and 3 link in front
you obviously have concerns or you wouldn't be asking

one thing about your rear coil over mounts: this is a lot of cantilever at the top bolt on the shocks
not sure that much would survive on a simple shock, definitely will fail on coil over shock
move the cross member forward to support the upper shock mount



i've never seen this type of front suspension on a truck, not saying it won't work, i'm not much on 4x4 builds
it looks very similar to a short version of the hairpin mounts used on model a and model t front axle

Ogre, thanks for your comments. I am asking about the suspension because I have no idea about what will and what wont. The person who installed this system builds mud trucks, he built this for road use only to give a better ride. I will mention shock brackets to him, see what can be done to strengthen them.

Just for grins I pulled out my engineering books and could not even find any way to easily calc for a cantilever bolt. I then looked on line and only info I could find was about bent motorcycle shock mount bolts. Most standard engineering applications would have the shock mount right up against the support (with neoprene or plastic rub shim) so there is no cantilever. I am surprised you said the guy builds mud trucks, he should know better. It you look at off road applications the shocks brackets usually have support on each side (not cantilever or moment) so the shear value of the bolt and support can be calculated. This is the second post this week showing a 4 link with that type of connection, so someone, somewhere, is promoting it as the "way to go". I would move the bracket forward and add an angle that catches the other side of the shock, so the shock just has enough room for side shims.
