Is this the original radio?

Should I put this radio back into the dash? Right now it has a JCPenny radio in it. I won't be using the radio, I am building a center console that will have a spot for a nice CD/MP3 head unit...

Yes that's an OE AM radio. You are missing the retaining hardware for the posts and the knobs unless the JC Penney radio has them still intact.

If your dash is not cut, you can locate a raduio delete plate and install it or you can reinstall that radio. A delete plate goes for $10 - $15, but make sure it includes the clips. A nice looking complete AM radio setup will go for $15 - $30.

Neither the delete or the radio will install if some bozo cut your dash.

So is it equally offensive to say, "The radio delete plate will install if some boring, non-creative person didn't cut your dash"?

I may be a bozo, but I have some imagination too

Let's face it, a radio delete plate looks boring, whether it's concealing a cut-up dash or not...

Only if you are insecure and feel you resemble that that remark. Somehow I don't picture you with a red nose, orange hair and big shoes however.

I racked my brain on this one for quite some time before I went to the creator for some help. Jay was more than helpful in explaining how it was done and after thinking about how he did it, it seems quite simple.
I know the trade secret but I am not at liberty to divuldge such precision info

If you have a GMC with a black glove box door...or a contrasting color anyways, you can paint up the delete plate and ash tryay to contrast colors with the dash, and then it won't be as booring.
And if you use a hide-a-key magnet on the back side, you can use the delete plate on a DIN sized hole.

Ok, I think I will put this radio in then. The dash is NOT cut, which is a good thing I guess. I'm sure I can find some knobs somewhere...
