Leaf spring question.
I put 3 inch drop springs in today and it brought the front up 4 inches. Not surprised, the PO said he cut/heated the springs.
The PO flipped the back and did a clean c-notch. I'm not sue what else he did because it is really low. Is there any way to bring the back up a couple inches without un flipping? |

Re: Leaf spring question.
Wow that must have been a rough ride with those front springs. They had zero compression in them it looks like.

Re: Leaf spring question.
Looks like the PO cut off then re-welded the perches on the other side of the axle. |

Re: Leaf spring question.
Shackles. The axle position would move down and raise truck. OK I was looking at front perch. If axle shackles are hanging down and not sitting on top of rear perch, like front ones, this will work. If not you need to redo axle or flip rear perches.

Re: Leaf spring question.
take the springs apart and reassemble them correctly (looks to be 3 or 4 short leafs above the main leaf they were under before) that will bring you up some other thing you can do would be take a sledge hammer to the springs one leaf at a time and put more arch in them you can put it just about any where you want then

Re: Leaf spring question.
All the ones above the main leaf (the one with the eye ends) go underneath in the reverse order that they are in now.... you may need new center bolts (SPECIAL) places like Napa have them in like 2 different lengths... one more thing the way they are in now they are nothing more than a spacer when you put them back underneath your ride WILL be stiffer if you don't like the ride you could remove a few leafs like every other one or just remove all the leafs above the main and make a spacers (one size bigger nuts or short pieces of steel pipe under the nuts that are there now works great) to make up for what is missing so your "U" bolts will still work ...and your ride will be just as it is now... just so you know your hauling capacity is pretty low the way it is now..... hope this all makes sense

Re: Leaf spring question.
I switched them around and I gained like 3/4 of an inch. I'm going to make some shorter shackles for the back and drive it like that for a while.
Thanks for the help guys! |
