Where to buy carpet
Im looking for a place or the best place to buy carpet and padding? Im looking to put carpet in my C20 driver over the original floor mat since its in good shape yet and don't want to mess it up taking it out. Plus I can add some more sound deadening in it. I doubt there is any molded sets out there for it but if there is anyinfo would be great. Or just a roll that i can make fit. thanks

Re: Where to buy carpet
truckandcarshop.com I know have molded carpet kits available. I cant speak to the quality personally but the price is reasonable. They come with the jute padding as well.

Re: Where to buy carpet
I have a '66 C20 and I used the LMC kit. It looks pretty nice and fit quite well in the end. It's long, so a little trimming has to be done on the sides and the back, but that's all easy. I did a layer of FatMat under it and the kit still fits well. Overall very pleased!

Re: Where to buy carpet
I got mine from Stock interiors. I requested some samples to see what matched the seat the best and when I got the carpet it fit really good.

Re: Where to buy carpet
I am also looking for carpet. I noticed a lengthy thread from one supplier on the board and it looks like there has been 50-100 purchases from them over the years.
This post brings up a couple questions I have, The supplier will not give prices, I am usually suspect when they will not divulge pricing, so I emailed them and their prices are considerably more than stock interiors (above link) Why has no one that received their carpet posted their likes or dislikes? Is there a reason to use them over the above link? I am all for helping the board sponsors, (BUT, is their carpet worth another 25-30% ?) NOTE-I could not find any positive or negative comments about them after searching. Thanks, Jim |

Re: Where to buy carpet
DLW
Looks like the stock interiors carpet has plenty of extra on all 4 sides, the carpet in my truck now is short all the way around and looks like crap. I don't want to end up with that again. thanks for the pic Jim |

Re: Where to buy carpet
I also went with stock interiors carpet kit. Carpet fit really well; it could have been just a skoch wider in the kick panel area, but I am well satisfied with it.

Re: Where to buy carpet
I went with the mass backing option. I also went with plush cut but I think most go with something that looks more original like the loop style.

Re: Where to buy carpet
May be a dumb question, but what is the mass backing option?

Re: Where to buy carpet
Mass Back is made of 40mil thick Ethylene vinyl acetate which gives the carpet a dense rubber backing to reduce heat and noise within your vehicle. The Mass Back is applied to the back of the carpet and then molded to the correct shape. This Mass Back carpet more closely duplicates the original factory materials for many later model OEM carpets.

Re: Where to buy carpet
You could also lay down dynamat to reduce noise/vibrations with the carpet

Re: Where to buy carpet
Hi.
A little Bump to this Thread. I want to get some new carpet for my 81. I might make a Thread in the 7387 forum about it. I've heard good things about ACC, but also read that it fades? |

Re: Where to buy carpet
I got one from from Brothers a few years back. I keep mine outside all year around and the carpet faded much quicker than I think it should have. Make sure you tell them the right hump when you buy it. Brothers said if it is a bolt in hump, than it is a big hump, which is wrong. So I ended up with way to much material. Why is it that I have a 15 year old Honda with black carpets that have not faded and I buy new carpets for my truck and they start to fade after a year.

Re: Where to buy carpet
I ended up buying from www.stockinteriors.com after reading the above posts.
The carpet was cheaper through them, and it turned out very nice. Jim |

Re: Where to buy carpet
I hope someone could clarify this for me. I was looking on StockInteriors however I did not see any explanations for the differences of: Cut Pile, Essex Plush Pile, Nylon Loop, 80/20 Loop, Tuxedo
What in the world do these mean? Edit: Never mind found it. Last edited by Boats&Hoes; 03-06-2015 at 06:48 AM. Reason: Got it! |
