Not factory new. Just another restored truck, with many errors in the restoration. Mods, please note: those are facts, not "bashing". No personal opinion.

Jay, what are the errors? My first guess for one of them is, it should have black wheels., but it's hard for a non-resto guy to spot them.

I'll step in here. Another thread was started and subsequently locked about this former Lambrecht truck when it first was listed on Ebay. A few of the "purists" here on the board (including myself) had questions or made comments regarding the apparent use of some lesser quality repop parts during it's restoration. The overall appearance is quite nice and the quality of work speaks for itself, but because some had expressed their dismay over curious parts choices, the mods here saw it as a "bashing" thread and removed it.
I will refrain from making any comments that could be construed as negative, though I will say that the NOS parts market for our trucks is quite healthy, and using those parts really puts the cherry on top of any "correct" resto. If this thread turns out like the last, a pile on of negative comments, this will also be closed. So far it looks like it's going down that same road.
Before you comment, ask yourself; could this truck belong to a member here, if it were mine and I saw this comment how would I feel?

I don't want to bash it. I do prefer the stock look to any other and I try to keep mine looking fairly original. I do vary from being pure because of cost and convenience and also safety upgrades. However, that being said, I also believe in truth in advertising. And yes, I would feel bad if someone nitpicked my own truck especially since I did the work myself. I agree with the moderator as this is not the proper venue to scrutinize, but when something is advertised a certain way, be it a product, a part, or whole vehicle, the seller should be prepared to have their product measure up to the claims in the ad. Thats all I'm gonna say.

Just my opinion, but I don't think pointing out non-stock or non-original parts is bashing. I enjoy factory correct trucks, but I'm not an expert, and I enjoy learning about what is (or is not) original when a restoration is critiqued.

I'm kinda a traditionalist however prefer to stay in the realm of "period" correct modifications ( however I have been seriously rethinking the power steering thingy after 600 jumps from fixed wing aircraft and 2 rotator cuff operations on each shoulder, and various and sundry issues assorted with the ravages of time and gravity) If I wasn't getting ready to send the IRS a great deal of my personal wealth in a few weeks (and start all over again in January) I would LOVE to have that truck. Many of us most likely would. In 1973 I bought a 1941 Indian Motorcycle Military Scout in the crate for $600.00. I took it out and tried to make a chopper or some other abomination out of it and it was stolen eventually. I would give my left n*t to have that back un removed from the crate. Messed up ones sell for 20K now.

This can be a very informative thrread if we put a positive spin to it.
I would not know all the things that are not original so I to can learn from your comments but from what I see its a nice truck. Many times a truck has been purchased thinking it was all original until closer inpection ... one finds out other wise.

I do too. And whether you like it or hate it due to it not being "100% correct" or original, it is a very interesting truck with a bit of a bizarre history sitting out like that for all those years. The new owner will figure out what is correct or not correct.
Personally, I like reading about these types of things on here...now if someone can tell me why the speedo is at 20 mph without a driver...haha! Tom

If all the Lambrecht trucks get restored to this quality then the real original low mile untouched fire and rescue trucks will be the ones left to look too for original survivor information. They will have there years of maintenance and modifications for service use too.
This all being said of all the vintage Lambrecht new vehicles is that there will never again be a more original, off the 1964 car carrier and not dealer prepped example out there in the world. Truely this is now a beautiful restored to original truck with a great past history. If there was an actual point show for these trucks just like the Corvettes and tri five Chevies, this would not be a 1000 point original truck but still would score very well in the restored class. Just saying for myself, if I couldn't quite let go of the big cash back at the sale that memorable September weekend for one of them factory originals still sporting its holy grail 1964-66 shipping wrappers and markings and on the MSO of the exclusive Lambrecht Chevrolet. And not to mention the disgust of many people there for such terrible examples of "NEW" leftover trucks being all faded and crusty, mouse ridden, undriveable and not even a wood floor in box to hold the 4 rusted off wheels and rotted tires. Did I also mention plenty of trees growing through them and covered in tree sap and moss and even with all the wonderful local folklore legends about of the actual exsistence of unrestored field dressed originals. Gives me goosebumps just talking about it! Then, I sure can't afford now nor want to invest in one now after it has been totally shop restored. But then for me the mystique of buying it untouched is that is would have been my piece of Chevy history and the chance to experience looking, dreaming, a touching a real time machine just setting tucked away in my building and the wife wondering if I had totally gone nuts bringing more old junk home! No bash here, just stating we all have our different tastes whether original or modified, lowered or raised, primered or patina'd, etc and it is still a great restored original Chevy truck.

The value of a vehicle is what ever another individual is willing to pay for it. Hope it works out for buyer and seller...... I like old trucks and the history that goes with them. My truck was bought new by a man that owned it over 40 years then by a fella that tore it apart and lost interest then me. I hope to bring it back to a daily driver.....
