Honest opinion
Would you trade the 64 C10 LB turned into SB for the 1986 Chevrolet K30 Scottsdale with a 6.2 diesel and a 4 speed manual transmission?
This is the ad and they are interested to trade straight across it has an 8 inch lift with springs and small blocks, new leaf springs all 4 corners, new shocks front and rear. has new glow plugs, fuel lift pump, two new interstate 1000 amp batteries, new clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate.has np205 transfer case running into dana 60 front and rear diffs with 373 gears. drives great down the highway. 5th wheel ball in box that is removeable. sliding back window, drop receiver hitch for towing. polished out wheels. tow mirrors, visor, and bug shield. truck is awesome front to back. the Bad, has rust in rockers, but none anywhere else. interior is clean, seats are tear, rip, and stain free, door panels are clean. the dash pad is cracked, but thats normal, has a Tacometer on the steering column, pioneer sound system, Cd, mp3/ipod capable. You know as much as I do |

Re: Honest opinion
which truck do you need more. Not want but need. I have no need for an 86 K30 so I would not trade.

Re: Honest opinion
I believe I would pass on the trade even if the square had a little more value. I feel the 64 would be more fun (for me) as well as easier to sell if needed. Every day there are hundreds more squares being ditched for newer trucks so they are everywhere for sale.

Re: Honest opinion
Opinions are fine...but up to what you need or want. Like mentioned if you are building another project then it would be a good trade if needed, especially a truck for towing but being lifted would need a big drop hitch also. if I had 1 to choose from for daily driving I would keep the old girl, it is cool, but back to what you need and want. Big square does look kind of goofy w the lift and tiny tires, so may need tires or lose lift.

Now, if I could trade the 64 that has no sentimental connection, for that big diesel truck, and then sell the big diesel truck to buy an even nicer 64, then maybe. It really is a preference decision. I personally have no need for either one. And I personally have no interest in a big diesel truck.

Re: Honest opinion
I had come across an article comparing the 90's 454 and diesel at one point but I can't seem to find it again. I do recall that power wise they were pretty equal. Diesel got better mpg's but these days diesel costs a bit more.

Re: Honest opinion
Where is the 86? The license plates are Brown county (Aberdeen) which is a ways from me, but if it happens to be closer to me I can check the truck out for you. I can't go 3 hours to check it out, but like I said if it's close I would be happy to look it over for you.

IMHO, I would keep the '64. But then again, I don't need a diesel dually. YMMV.

Re: Honest opinion
The 64 is still by far the cooler truck, so works out for the good.
