Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Original plan was to throw a rebuild 350 with a fast fuel injection system on it. With a nv4500 behind that, but i got talked into putting a ls2 insteed.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

I've known i wanted to do a swap like this for quite sometime now, but been so busy with work and classes. I started on a lot of small things like gather stuff for fuel system, and getting a transmission together. Here is my fuel tank.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Cleaned up the np205 last night. Previous owner told me everything was rebuilt at 100,000. Hard to believe when its has 3000 on rebuild and everything is caked in oil.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Back in June i was in search for a nv4500. I asked around, ended up talking to one of my old mans best friend who use to manage a big angus ranch. He told me they have a pickup that had a cab fire, said go talk to the owner. I went over and asked him what he wanted for it, told me 120 would buy it all. Came home with a 95 chevy 3500 with a 454, nv4500, np241, and made 250 in scrap iron from the rest. Wasn't a bad buy at all!

Subsribed. What hubs are on the truck? They don't stick out very far but aren't spicers...

Good score on the 95!

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

This summer we were at our local junk yard looking for a 14-bolt posi for my buddy's 67 that I sold him and totally regret selling it. He brought it home, then he realized that he wanted to keep his 4.56s gear instead of 4.10s so i traded him one of my 454s. In return I got the 327 in the truck and the 14-bolt.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Sunday I pulled an old running gear out of the trees. Threw some wood on it so I can place my box and cab on when I need to. Also power washed up the frame, going to get the new cross-member laying in there when I can.

I have a 92 with a 350/nv4500. The main rear seal is out on the engine. Plan on pulling the trans and use for a later day project.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Tonight I got the bump stops removed so I can get the cross member bolted in right. Got the cross member modified so I can run the other brake line through. I also plan on putting the battery behind the cab so I have to be able to run my cable up.
