How close is to close? Caliper to wheel

Hey guys need opinions. My brake package recommended 17in rims but I'm on a tight budget and they just barely clear 16im rims I already have. Would you run them? As you can see there is just barely enough room for a screw driver to fit

Is the rotor rubbing the wheel? That looks a lot tighter fit than the caliper.

I don't see a problem with that clearance. Your wheel shouldn't be moving around for it to be an issue. If it does, you have other problems.

just make sure they don't use the stick on wheel weights for balancing in that spot, I had a Camaro with close clearance like that, and it scrubbed off the weights!

This is good to hear guys thanks! That being said im stil worried about femder clearamce they are 16x8 with 0 offset so 4.5 backspace. Think I'll be good? It'll be 3-4 months before I can put the cab and body on to check

I think you'll be fine. Next time you are walking through a parking lot, have a look at caliper to wheel clearance on modern cars, especially FWD. Millimeters.

Yep, a 1/4" is typically recommended clearance but I have seen less. I would not go less than 3/8" for wheel deflection clearance.

Re: How close is to close? Caliper to wheel

If I grind down the highest spot on the caliper I'll probably be about 1/4 clearance
