Having a starting problem

Ive been driving my C20 lately and took it out for a spin last night to see how my lights and stuff all work and when i got back i parked it for a few minutes then tried to start it again and now the only way it will stay running is if i hold the key in the start position and leave the starter spinning. As soon as I let off the ignition it dies. Anyone ever experience this issue? Cant move it much when i have to hold the key in the start position for it to run,

Re: Having a starting problem

Are you getting power to the coil with the key in the "on" position? Sounds like you might have popped a fusible link or a ballast resistor, assipumng these trucks have either (I'm speaking from General ignition system knowledge, and not specifically about these trucks.)

Re: Having a starting problem

Well it's got a brand new hei distributor and a new ignition. It'll run as long as I hold the key all the way over

Re: Having a starting problem

That was my guess after checking things over..if only parts were meant to last.

Re: Having a starting problem

That additional information might have helped...

I'd check the wiring too.
