Old school brake controller?

I saw this at a local salvage yard the other day. I thought it was weird that a brake line is feeding directly to the device inside the cab. The line feeds to the MC. The "K+H" knob can twist back and forth, and also can slide to the right but then returns to the position it's in now.

Is this just an old school brake controller, or something else?

Favorite exchange on the board so far:
ol_Curt: "Jason, do you have power steering?"
jason65: "No, but I lift weights."

Re: Old school brake controller?

Looks like and old school brake controller by Kelsey Hayes. Looks to run off of pressure from the master to switch power to electric trailer brakes. Should have a positive wire going to it too. Blue goes to the trailer brakes.

Old school trailer brake. New trailer brakes are electronic, not hydraulic. I got rid of my old controller.

My truck has one too. Is it possible to get a plug for the block just off the master that the line goes to? I saw a few trucks like this at the junkyard too.

Interested in this also. What are the precautions to take when removing it, if any?

Re: Old school brake controller?

No need for a plug, just remove the block and re-install original line back into MC.
