Need help with EFI fuel line - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am installing a Boyd Welding EFI fuel tank and an LT1 motor in my 71 C10 shortbed. What are you guys doing for fuel lines? I'd like to install an inline filter on the inside of the frame rail. Not sure what kind of those to get either.

Well, I'm figuring it out. I've got a shopping cart with a bunch of Russell hoses, but I'm stuck on how I join them to the fuel rail. here is a picture of my fuel rail. It looks like there is a fitting that will convert this to -6AN?

You might check the "conversions" section on LS1Tech.com. I used a couple quick connect ends like in your pic to install a Corvette fuel filter/pressure regulator before my Walbro in line pump(low pressure/prepump). Then I used push lock connectors and versaflares to connect hard lines to push lock line. Hope this helps.

Cut those fittings off and order these for the different sizes (3/8 & 5/16),

Thanks for the suggestion. I called Jegs and got a lot of help and prices. The Boyds tank comes with an Aeromotive pump that is apparently a very nice one. The guy at Jegs told me I should get a better filter than I was looking at but the filter alone is $110 with brackets and fittings.

I'm going to call Summit tomorrow.

You may can use the hoses from a later truck or car. I did a TPI conversion on a '72 SWB and used the fuel tank and complete lines from a S10 Blazer. I had to do 2 splices (used hydraulic unions, not low pressure ones) but I had steel line, not the later plastic. Look for '93-96 Caprice/Roadmaster. They had LT1 and fuel tank at the back.

I have ordered the JEG's version of those and should have them tomorrow. I think I am going with braided hoses, just for ease of installation. it's more expensive, but not that much more.

Mine is only one step further along, clamped onto the frame rails. I'll bolt it in this weekend.

I should have taken the lines out of the car, but I didn't like the nylon lines. It seemed like they would be too easy to cut or burn.

True, but they are not affected by ethanol fuel. Evil stuff, but a fact of life these days.

Actually the nylon lines are awesome. You can but a roll of it at O'reilly's parts and use push on barb fittings. If you are worried about rubbing/chafing you can put it inside a larger diameter hose you just do like I do and clamp it about every 16" or so. I get the barb on one end fitting and threads on the other end from ACE for a couple bucks. Have used this "Dorman" product line hose on a couple and never had any problems or leaks. easy to route and tuck up inside the frame rails.

OK, making some progress. I got the old fittings off with the disconnect tool, and got Russell screw on fittings (they seem to work better than the Jeg's snap on ones. Here are the new fittings installed waiting for fuel lines. I'm going with braided steel fuel lines with -6 AN fittings.

I got the tank in. Here it is, and here is the 90 degree 3/8 NPT fitting to -6AN for the fuel hoses. That's just a cheapie rubber hose on there so I can see the bend that the line will have and it will help me determine the right length for the fuel hoses.
