tranny problems?

P0740 tcc circ mal
P0753 shift solenoid A circuit electrical
P0758 shift solenoid B circuit electrical
P0785 shift timing malfunction
P1860 manufacturer control transmission

All of these codes come on immediately after turning on key. I'm thinking I have a bad ground. This is my 70 with a LS swap almost done just working on the kinks... I don't think that all of this stuff is wrong with my trans.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: tranny problems?

What year engine is it? I had a P0785 and it was a 2-3 shift solenoid code, not what you listed it as. Anyway, have you checked for power to the trans? I would suspect all those codes are caused by the same problem.

Re: tranny problems?

no I haven't done any troubleshooting yet I was just picking some brains before I got into it. I assume ground or hot is missing...

Re: tranny problems?

Sounds like a power/ground issue. I would also make sure the plug is fully seated and verify pinouts.

Re: tranny problems?

Don't take this the wrong way...but is the main wiring plug actually plugged into the trans? Its easy for trans fluid to get on the connections and partially cause issues at the connection point. Check the plug, hit it with some electric safe contact cleaner and reassemble it. Anytime I see 5+ codes at the same time, there is usually an obvious thing that just got overlooked or knocked off by accident etc)

Re: tranny problems?

All solenoids share common 12V line on pin E (except Pressure Control solenoid, which has its own +12 Volt supply on pin C)

According to http://www.msgpio.com/manuals/mshift/wiring.html

I checked pin E with my key on showed 0V so I believe that is my problem

Re: tranny problems?

I have the almost exact same thing in a truck that is NOT a swap. It is a 04 1500 Silverado.I was scraped down the side when I bought it and I built it and then I have PO740, PO753, PO758,PO785 and the difference is p2761. I had a guy look into this then he told me your getting fire to the trans you need a harness in the trans. I ordered in put it in. Same thing. I took it to the big dealer in Little Rock they told me the sprag was bad and for $1900 they could pull it out and fix the broken hard part and get me going. I told them twice the codes were TCC open meaning broken wire[or so I thought]. He assured me it was a bad trans. So I brought it back to the shop and had it changed out it is till there. The trans that was in it was a fresh rebuild, I mean really fresh. It makes me think the problem was there and the people couldn't get it fixed then had a new one put in and still did it so then he smashed it down the side. I have another motor wiring from a truck that I'm junking out[having extra parts rocks]any body with great ideas? sorry to post here I don't feel this is thread jacking since all the codes are the same maybe someone could stumble on the answer for both of us? Although I feel mine might be found in the couple of feet between the back of the intake and the lower side of the trans plug. Jim

Re: tranny problems?

Did I include that I hate wiring and had rather be grinding body filler for the whole day than doing wiring for a half? Jim
