Manual steering gear '68 K10
I am looking for a manual steering gear for a 1968 4WD K10 Suburban, I've had this unit since 1970 and have 145,000 miles on it. Switched engines from a 307 to a 350 some years back. Another ? would be how hard to switch to power steering and power brakes?

You can still buy re manufactured manual steering boxes from most if not all of the vendors.
You can easily swap to power steering. First is to check if your frame has dimples where it mates up to the steering box, if not then there are a couple options in order to fit a power box. The one I prefer, is an adapter plate that fits between the box and the frame. The other way is to heat & beat the frame with a hammer till it fits. I can't tell you how much this method bothers me... Though many have done it, and it "works" I guess but ask your self how long will the frame last at the mounting points. Big wide tires kill the manual boxes, and will stress the frame on a beat up mount conversion to power.

Thanks for the reply, I will do some checking. Don't know about the frame and it is in a couple feet of snow right now. I run just the standard tires 235 75 R 15, I believe. Thanks again.
