Hello, New to forum 62 c10
My dad told me to get on this forum and read everything!! I have read a lot!!
You guys share so much information that is helpful. Thank you. This is my First truck. I have my provisional license. Can not drive by myself until June 14th so truck needs to be done then. Its a old farm truck my granddad gave me. Had a 283v8 with 3 on the tree. we are putting in a 454 with auto trans turbo400 what my dad gave me. I have started cleaning up the truck. Nothing like you guys are doing to your trucks... but making it nicer than it was. Attached some pictures and will up-date more later and I will try and build a thread like others have on there builds. Notice the bigger tires on the front. The first thing we did was a disc brake conversion in the front with drop spindles. I started on the body. John |

Re: Hello, New to forum 62 c10
Welcome to the forum...plenty to read about here and a lot of great, helpful guys to pose your questions to for the real scoop. That 454 is going to cost you big in gas...like under 10 mpg.

Nice looking truck.
Sounds like you have a very smart Dad and a very generous Grandfather. Cherish them as they won't be around forever. |

Welcome to the forum
A 454 with a TH400 in that '62 frame will be a bit of a challenge.

Re: Hello, New to forum 62 c10
Some more pic's to get you guys up to date where I am on the build.
Pimpston65 - I might switch to a dual headlight 61 grill. I will let you know if you really want the 62 grill. Oldgmjon - Im 16... i dont worry about mpg MJ - I have a brain - not your normal 16 year old Larger wheels/tires temporary to fit the new disc brakes. Really, thank you all !! Dpowers thx I know. Pictures - sanded/wire wheel old paint off. then grey primer. Problem I got busy and the rust came back from under the primer. so had to re-sand, primer then painted flat black. |

Re: Hello, New to forum 62 c10
Truck is flat black now with rally wheels.
Had to pull doors and repair rust and dents. (Still working on them) I learned about all about bondo for the bed repair.. (still needs more work) Pulled engine & trans and clean engine bay. Picture of the 454!! Inside the cab I cleaned and wire wheel the floorboards. (used the silver paint - All I had to use that day). They still need more work. More wire wheel in engine bay. That's me! Re: Hello, New to forum 62 c10
Have the engine bay pretty clean and painted satin black. I think it will stay this color.
Pulled the bed off - Was easier than I thought. Back to grinding off rust! Got some good paint!! that will help keep rust from coming back on the frame. lot's more grinding to go! You guys are up to date now with my build. On order: aluminum radiator power steering box power brake booster shift kit for trans rear mount gas tank John |

Re: Hello, New to forum 62 c10
Well done ! For your power steering CPP makes an adaptor for the 60-62 frames. Capitanfab makes a nice brake booster adaptor for the 60-62 that will allow you to get rid of the single circuit master cylinder.
I like what your doing with your truck and the fact that you are doing the work is cool Keep it up kid !! ( no disrespect ) major props.
