Motor mount questions
Hey guys,
I've done some searching and saw that I would need a 1" spacer for the motor mounts (I have a 72 front crossmember on a 62 frame). If I read it right I would need a motor mount kit for a 72 truck and then I just get some 1" spacers, right? Stock was a 283 v8 and I'm putting in a sbc 350 with a 700r4.. Sorry if I answered my own question, just want to make sure before I go out and buy a motor mount kit. |

Re: Motor mount questions
Correct. We have a 79 crossmember installed in our 61. We needed spacers on the top of the frame rails. (the frame rails on the 60-62 are shorter) I had a local guy down the street cut some 3/4 inch spacers out with a plasma cutter. Hope this helps.

Re: Motor mount questions
Thank you, now for the mounts that go onto the motor it self. I just say i.e. 79 v8 motor mounts?

Re: Motor mount questions
I have a 61 and did some searching here in the forums to get my ideas. Really, there were not any surprises. I used the 67-72 motor mounts (got them at a junk yard for 50 bucks I think). Had some half inch aluminum metal which I just cut on my table saw to the right size, double stacked them and then drilled a couple of holes. Pretty easy!
Oh...and before you tighten every thing down, get the motor and the mounts mated up. You can tighten everything on the frame last... Tom

Re: Motor mount questions
par4tom, I have those mounts that go on frame already, but I need the part number or something for the mounts that go onto the motor.. I search 78 c10 v8 mounts, but I don't think they look the same.. Probably just me though.
I guess I should search for 67-72 motor mounts for the block? |
