9"Steels. What range of widths would they take?

Another one of those questions that is obvious to those of you that deal with it every day.

I measured the Rallyes the other night. And the width from lip to lip is 9 inches.

The tyres I had planned on fitting are 225/75-15's

So the question is, are they a bit narrow for the 9's or will they be fine, with minimal sidewall distortion?

I do not want to go too wide, as it looks great, but in my case would not add to performance in the real world (well, that's what I think)

These are the wheels, obviously.

So do I buy something wider, as I want close to 2" white walls or a bit more on my smoothies, or would transferring the 225's from the smoothies be doable?

Thanks for the advice, as always guys.

PS. I think I may have measured the outside of the lips, rather than the inside lip width, so could be on 8" wide Rallyes, again, you guys will know this more than me.

Re: 9"Steels. What range of widths would they take?

well, your PS is right, they are actually 8s. a 15x8 inch wheel will measure 9 inches because there is a half inch added each side of the wheel for the lip. measure again and this time look at the actual bead mounting surface and you will see the extra.

a 225 is an ideal width for a 15x8, so you should be good.

Yup...... Measured them again, and they are 8" inside the lips, so it looks like they will take the 225's I have.
