Cab Corner Moldings
What do you all think? I cleaned all the paint off, should I just repaint the bow-tie black or gold? Should I just leave it the way it is or re-paint the whole emblem again? I did try to paint the inside of the square gold, with touch-up paint, but that didn't turn out very good. It would probably look better spray painting it, but that would be alot of tedious masking.

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
I plan to paint mine like the top picture. CAT yellow and gloss black.

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
Well I painted the Bow tie black, thinking I'll leave it them just the way they are.

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
I like them painted like original and the masking for Chevy cab corners is much easier than the ones for GMCs. It is all about personal preference though.

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
Get some black fingernail polish.
With the bowtie facing up (and perfectly level) use the little brush to lay on a light coat of the nail polish. No need to get too close to the edges - the polish will flow right up to the border and fill the whole bowtie perfectly. When the first coat is dry, add another coat. Good quality nail polish will last a wicked long time. Looks like your job came out pretty nice anyway. |

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
I have not attempted removal of this trim on my '85 yet but I will soon.
What is the procedure? |

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
Take the rear corner speaker cover & speaker out, if there's one still there. Reach up into the hole and you'll feel a stud with a speed nut on it. It will be just behind the little bow tie emblem. Back the nut off and then you can remove the molding from outside the truck.

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=122 I suppose if you found thick enough 3M tape, that would work. Here's what the back looks like, but this one doesn't have the stud clip on it, those are separate. And also, the ones from LMC are plain, they don't have the emblem. Re: Cab Corner Moldings
Can you post the dimensions of the emblems? When I order my trim I hope it wont have them. I bought some small aluminum Autobot Transformer emblems and I want to put them on the trim instead. Yes Im sort of a geek.

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
1 3/4" x 1 3/4" square. The moldings that you get from LMC will not have the emblem on there, they are just plain. So you'll be able to add your own emblems

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
Can you explain what you used and how you cleaned the trim up? It looks great all 3 ways to me!

It's a slow process to get it all polished out. There are a couple of threads on here about doing it. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Cab Corner Moldings
Does anyone happen to have measurements for the cab trim/corner moldings?
I have the yellow cab trim for my 77, but the truck didn't originally include trim or the previous owner removed it... I need the measurements for each of the side pieces (one hole each) and also for the rear trim where it is riveted. I have researched without any luck. Any diagrams available? Thanks, Justin
