Hex style adjustable tie rod sleeves

Morning guys,
I was working on the front suspension of my truck over the weekend and was installing my qa1 5251 tie rod adjusters. Seems like a lot of people here use them with no issues. They measure 4-7/8 in length and the factory ones are 6" I believe. Problem is when installed there is only about an inch or so of threads of the tie rod screwed into them. Is this enough you think? I have looked around and can't find longer hex style adjusters. Truck is a 70 c10 with narrowed porterbuilt arms.

Thank you

Re: Hex style adjustable tie rod sleeves

I think board vendor Pro Performance and Porterbuilt, both, makes a specific tie rod adjuster for the narrowed Porterbuilt a-arms.

Yes, we do make an adjuster for both narrowed and standard applications. Right now, we only offer for the 71-87 C10's, since they use a different 11/16 thread.

Don't know about the hex adjusters, but an inch of adjustment will move the wheels quite a bit.

I think there is a little miss communication. Being that the hex adjusters are shorter there is only 1" of the tie rod threaded into the adjuster. I was worried there wasn't enough thread engagement. Is 1" enough?

Re: Hex style adjustable tie rod sleeves

An inch of thread engagement on each side of the adjuster should be fine.
The jamb nuts will keep everything solid.
