Comfort option in some of the trucks. Usually found on the Silverados etc.

Re: why some doors have rubber seals on them

I have an 86 Silverado, mine doesn't have the door seals either. When I looked to see if I could get some, all I could find is 1978-1982. will these still fit on my 86?

Wind noise.

Every time the customer complaints would become unbearable (or we had a new manager) we would release the extra seals.

Every time there was a downturn or an opportunity to cut costs they would be the first thing to go.

The same design should fit any door/any model year.

My 73 GMC has them. I assume they probably help with water intrusion with no drip rails as well.

Re: why some doors have rubber seals on them

My 86 C10 has wind noise on both doors. The seals on the cab look to be in good condition and was thinking of getting a pair of these seals. Is there any GM instructions on installing these that you know of or is it a no-brainer?

What I wouldn't give to have been there on those special days when the cry went out - RELEASE THE EXTRA SEALS!

And there was much rejoicing.

Re: why some doors have rubber seals on them

Do these seals cut down on wind noise? My truck is fairly quiet except for the wind noise. Has anyone installed them and noticed a difference?

Probably not. Usually the vent windows are so bad that nothing else matters.

Re: why some doors have rubber seals on them

My vent windows are in pretty good shape. I'm getting the door seals and will install them. I will post if they make difference. $35 for the pair isn't going to break the bank even if it doesn't help, but I would think it would (even if it's just alittle).

And then someday, I will replace the vent assemblies with these:

And I say someday, this is just for one side. $$$$

Re: why some doors have rubber seals on them

I think my vent seals were replaced, they seem too new.
I thought it helped with the hardtop ,
but with a softop and flowmasters can't really complain about wind noise. lol
