Another newbie! We need a template
Just joined the forum. My daughter turned 15 a few weeks ago and was looking a buying her first car. Im excited to say she decided to rebuild an old truck. Two weeks ago we found her a '54 Chevy pickup. I attached a photo of it. So the next several months we get to spend together on this project!
Our first question is about windows. Several places have told us the least expensive is to have them made at our local glass shop. Unfortunately we have called them all and no one has a template. We have been unable to find one on the internet. Anyone have ideas on where to find one? |

Re: Another newbie! We need a template
check with All American Classic in Vancouver WA. they could probably provide used glass cheap and you could make a pattern from that.
They can become your best friends on a project like this so it might be worth the drive up from Corvallis |

Nice Truck and great times for you and your daughter. I really like your E Brake, I've used the same brand myself

Nice truck to start with, and nice that your daughter picked it out. It's always good to see father/daughter (or son) projects starting.

Re: Another newbie! We need a template
The glass for these trucks is not priced bad from most of the venders if you still have the window frames. If you don't have the frames the price goes up very quickly.

Re: Another newbie! We need a template
If you are from Corvallis, OR locally you can get all of the glass from The Filling station in Lebanon or Dan's Classic in Portland
The other option for used parts is the Portland swap meet starts April 10th. There are a few guys that specialize in used 47-55 truck there every year and vendors like the Truck and Car Shop come every year with a semi truck full of parts. |

Re: Another newbie! We need a template
Having been involved with glass in 2 AD trucks recently, I checked with 2 local glass companies in Helena, and 2 in Boise. They all told me that they cant beat the classic parts suppliers because of the time involved shaping and sanding the glass. I priced all of the classic suppliers, and ended up buying from Classic Parts.

Re: Another newbie! We need a template
She wants to keep the Patina look. We are going to fix up the inside and get it running. Can't wait for her to learn to drive a clutch with this! Eventually we will move the body to an S10 frame, but we are gonna have some fun driving it around first.
Thanks for the input on the windows everyone. |
