artillery wheels?

They will fit, tires all a preference. They do make repops any size

If using originals, be sure to carefully inspect them for any rust or damage. I believe these were last produced for the 1937-38 Chevy pickups, so they've normally seen a lot of hard use:



They are probably skinny too, perhaps a 4.5" - 5" rim width. Modern aftermarket replacements can be had with a variety of wider rims with safety beads to retain the tire should it go flat.

i've got original artillery wheels on a truck and they require tubes because of the riveted spokes. mine are 15 x 5" and you can run bias-ply and some thinner radials with no problem.

I was just thinking back and remembering there was a guy around 1964 in Castro Valley that had a white 41 Chevy coupe running those wheels. They had been reversed and chromed, and were about the coolest thing I'd ever seen at the time. It was definitely unique.

Funny that this question/thread came up. I've been considering the same wheel for my 66.
If I'm reading correctly, (please confirm), no mods or spacers needed. The stock artillery wheel will mount flush against the 60's drums; the centers hub openings are same; and 6 lug bolt patterns are the same. Could be great news if I can find the wheels.
If I'm not mistaken, our stock wheels are 5.5". As such, tire size shouldn't be an issue if artillery's are at 5".

thanks to all that replied i have the same questions regarding lug pattern and hub opening and I'm having no luck finding a set around here i may just go with a re pop wheel unless someone here may have a lead on a set in or around the greater sacramento area there was nothing at the swap meet here last Saturday kinda had my hopes that at least one or two would've been layin around

artillery wheels bring big money anymore, I has a friend sell a set for around 1200...
I have a pic of a 66 with a set that a board member had a few years back, I will try to find it...

I do have a pic of this crew that not only has the wheels, but the o.g. gmc hubcaps mounted to them as well...

That crew cab is the one I saw in a truck magazine about 12+ years ago that got me to start looking for a crew cab. I found one in my back yard ( 100 miles away) and bought it to build. I sold it to my dad and he built it, pix are above.

Ordered a set of 17x7s with 5x 4.5 and 5x 4 3/4 mulit pattern. Im waiting for the paint to dry on the bake cycle in the booth as I type this then off to the striper. I also have a wheelsmiths chrome set with painted hoops 15x8s on my burb. The og ones require tubes or silicone the rivets and they are really narrow.
