2015 6.2 swap help

So I know that there endless knowledge to be found here and I need some help with a question. I have read and followed several LSx swaps here but have not found one using a 6.2 from a new 2015 Silverado. I don't know what, if anything, has changed on the 2015 6.2 power plant. My question is does anyone know if I will be able to transplant it in to my 69 C-10 without a lot of work? Or will I be able to get a stand alone harness that will make it work? The reason I am asking is that I had a complete 2015 6.2 motor/trans fall in my lap and would love to be able to put it in my 69. Any info would be great!!

I have not messed with the EcoTec-3 engines yet. I recommend staying away from them 'til GM gets all the quirks ironed out.

I am still on the fence as far as Direct Injection on gas engines, It causes Intake valve deposits to form (quite rapidly), And are known to dilute the oil with fuel.

All EcoTec-3 engines have AFM. GM didn't have this stuff worked out in the Gen IV engines.

The first couple years of any new powertrain from any manufacturer usually has issues. The LB7 Duramax, '97/'98 LS1, '03 Dodge Hemi, 6.0L Powerstroke, 3 valve 5.4L, & Northstar are good examples.

Also keep in mind, That with swaps....There will be no manufacturer warranty. These new DI engines may turn out to be a good powertrain, But NOBODY knows yet!

I agree with you on first year power plants, I saw a lot of 03-04 6.0l Fords bought back. So far the DI gas engines are really good. They run crazy static compression ratio's, pre-ignition is a non-issue.

New gen LT1 swaps are a bit hard at the moment. The computer is a deal more complicated, and thus the wiring is more troublesome. I'm not sure how far they've cracked the O/S for those yet, whether or not they've got trans controllers working etc.

IMO the biggest thing you face is dealing with the DI system, which operates at a much higher pressure. Its a great system, but its also designed around running near-full capacity from the factory.

The "big guys" like Lingenfelter, MAST etc are just starting to really get into the systems, so it might be a little while before a plug-n-play solution comes up like we now have for the LS swaps.


That being said....might be worth holding onto for the summer and seeing what new stuff develops. (keep in mind that the parts costs for these motors are VERY high atm)

Speartech has them figured out but they are pricey. If you are willing to wait I am sure the price will come down when others get them figured out.

I agree. That's why I snatched it up and couldn't pass it up for the price. Even if I have to hold on to it for a bit.

Heheh the Lb7 was junk allllll the way through. Engine design was ok, induction and fuel system was trash.

As for the carbon deposits thing, I've heard that a ton of super late model Audi/VW products. Require 91+ octane, TSB for de-carboning (is that a word) the intake from deposits, and still costs way too much.
