master cylinder question

I am getting ready to convert my 65 c10 to front disks. My question is can I still use this booster and just add a new master cylinder from a local parts store?

Re: master cylinder question

shouldn't be a problem. That Power Brake Booster is not a stock 65 anyway. looks like it might be from a car. I sure would like to know what year and model it came from.

Re: master cylinder question

Thanks for the quick reply. I spoke with the original owner (my Dad) he said a mechanic friend installed it for him for extra braking. Until I was given the truck it had a cab over camper on it.

Re: master cylinder question

I did some looking on Rockauto.com and think that came from a 68 elky or Camaro. Even has the threaded brake rod. after further looking maybe not..

Re: master cylinder question

The booster shouldn't be a problem, but the intermediate pushrod for the original master will be the long version. Just about all disc/drum master cylinders are designed for the short intermediate pushrod.

Re: master cylinder question

Yes the intermediate pushrod can be changed easily. I do not know if it can be purchased new. I always have had many many extra parts to choose from.

Re: master cylinder question

If you change the intermediate pushrod, you can use a master cylinder for a '71-'87 C10. Did you get your front disc brakes from a donor truck or did you buy a kit? If a donor truck, just get a master cylinder for that year of truck.

Re: master cylinder question

I got a kit. Could I go to a junk yard and get the rod out of a 71-87 truck?
