Re: Close range PS gear box
I am going with a new box from RedHead. They are $256.00 with an exchange and in stock.

They do for 2wd, but I can't remember for 4wd. Been a long time since I got mine. Check out the website or give them a call. They were extremely nice and helpful when I got my last one.

Re: Close range PS gear box
There are a number of things that can cause play in the steering. It may not be a good idea to start with the most expensive one.

Re: Close range PS gear box
It works ok, don't even notice the quick ratio after a while.

Re: Close range PS gear box
Thanks all for the information. It appears not to many companies are making these. It appears RedHed is the sole source.
Ya, my gear box is the original 72 one. I have adjusted over the years but at it's last leg. I have re-built them before for about $75. |

Re: Close range PS gear box
Talked to RedHead today. They offer a 15:1 and an 18:1 ratio. He mentioned with a lift or oversized tires to go with the 18:1. If you are mostly stock then go with the 15:1.
Confirmed this was for a 1972 and 4x4. Part # is 2851 (not on their website) and you need to specify which ratio you want when ordering.
