BRP MuscleRods Mount Design

Just curious if anyone has had experience with or paid attention to BRP's LS engine mount design for the 64-72 C10? It is my understanding that their design replaces the factory perch that mounts from the frame rails to the crossmember, replacing it with a much cleaner mount that goes directly from the engine to the crossmember. This would be great for freeing up space for headers/etc. However, I noticed that on the 64-72 C10 design specifically, the frame side mount seems very small with only one bolt hole? Most of their other designs (the 73 and up c10 specifically) seems to use at least three bolt holes and a much larger mounting surface on the crossmember mount. Any ideas why?

I don't think that one actually replaces the perch. The larger plate bolts to the motor, and the small single hole unit mounts atop the perch in place of the old SBC mount lower bolt (which is a single bolt)

If I undersand it correctly, that IS the mount, you don't stack another with it. There's good and bad to that...I have no idea how you would rebuild the centers if they wore out, unless you can just go find a poly suspension bushing that fits the sleeve.

Ok that makes sense Brew. What seemed weird is that the 73 and up has a 3 hole mount for the perch side bracket. Were the perches that different after '73? I thought the SBC mounts were the same?

I agree with BR3W....both of the sets of mounts are made to fit the stock stands, & yes the 73-up stands are a bunch different than the 63-72 sb stands. Just one more thought....those mounts may be a tad "harsh", due to very little urethane in the mix ....almost like running solid mounts Longhorn

They literally look like the poly/urethane suspension bushings that Energy and Pedders sell for control arms. I'm betting if I got some 14mm sleeved suspension bushings (you can get them with the metal collet in place already) from one of the 4x4 shops, I could put something similar together.

I think the design itself is interesting. I just don't like the price.

Just looked at their pricing. $280 for urethane bushing and a a little bit of steel. Must take tons of hours in research and development to add up to that price".................

Eric, the answer is YES. 73+ have a different mount requiring the three holes.
