Sport Mirror Option?
My understanding is the Sport Mirror came out in 1971-1972, was this the only mirror option that year for the 1/2 ton trucks? Was the single arm mirror from 1967-1970 still available for 1971-1972's?

The base 71-72 mirrors were the so called "sport mirrors". Being the base build mirror it was not a selectable option and won't be seen on a SPID in almost all cases. As a factory installed mirror it was pretty much your only choice unless you went to the tripod leg below eyeline mirrors or the larger camper version. There were several styles of dealer installed accessory and aftermaket mirrors as well. Notably the West Coast jr styles were a common addition. Might want to look through a 71 or 72 accessory brochure. But no, to answer you question the earlier fixed arm was not available as a factory installed mirror on a 71-72 pickup.
