Transfer case bushings - which way is up?

My task for tomorrow. I'm assuming the thicker bushing on the bottom, but I thought I'd double check.

I ran the thicker ones on top. Not sure if that's right. It's the way they were when I pulled the old ones out.

I'll dig through the shop manual and see if it says anything. My existing bushings are toast, so I can't tell from what is in there.

Re: Transfer case bushings - which way is up?

I didn't bother with the shop manual, I just dug in and got to work. This was their orientation when I took the originals out:

The thicker bushings (or what was left of the thicker bushings) were on the bottom. Solved that driveline movement problem. Its nice to occasionally have a straightforward solution to a simple problem.

Body bushings next.

I would have put the larger one on the bottom also as this would give it more cushion and handle the weight and torque of the transfer case better than the smaller one. Here is a link. They show it in the description pictures under the cross reference section with the larger one on the bottom. http://www.prothanesuspensionparts.com/71603

Thanks. I went bigger on the bottom based on what was left of what I pulled out. I probably should have clarified that.
