will this work for my roof?

Did some practice with the welder today. The sheet metal is about .040 thick. I need to weld a section on my roof that has rust and a hole in it. Before I try the real deal I thought I would get some thoughts on these....

Maybe slow up the wire speed a little, and turn up the amperage. Flatter welds, less grinding.

I don't know how big of an area you are fooling with but warping will be one of your enemies. It's good to try a practice piece first and find out what's going to happen.
