Aligning the lower control arms after replacement.
Hey guys one more piece of the 63 puzzle, I've replaced the control arm shafts on the one side. Wondering how you place the lower control arms before tightening the u bolts...I upgraded to the bigger dorman ones. Should I measure where the other side is and maker the same?

I dont know about the 63.. but on my 66 I used a 87 lower with shaft's and each shaft has a "alignment" hole in it,, that hole fits to the C-Clamp bolt thats on the cross member..I tightened it up from there

As I recall there's a locating pin in the saddle part of the clamp.

Yes thank guys its in the front...since I'm pulling it apart again I ordered some new springs...what the heck!

I put the hole in the control arm shaft "Up"... the two C-Clamp brackets that are riveted into the cross member set the shaft,, one of the rivets is larger than the other.. If you align the shaft into the larger rivet side the shaft is aligned at the correct spacing.. If its fit right there's No gap/space between the shaft and the upper bracket.
If I remember correct the Pin is on the forward side,, my shafts had two holes so it didnt matter were the Pin was,, as long as you have the Arms on the right side,, LOL |
