Truck won't start - Help!!!

I have an intermittent problem where the truck won't start. I got in it today, drove it and then parked it for 20 minutes, tried to start it and it won't start. No clicking noise, no whining noise, no noise at all. The headlights do not come on, the stereo won't come on, just blinks. The dome light comes on, but is dim. When I try to start it with the domelight on, the light goes out. I used my multimeter, tested the battery posts and have 12.7 volts ( a few nights ago I used the battery charger to top off the batter, it accepted a full charge and then did an alternator check with the charger and alternator check was good). I used the multimeter and did other tests (battery cable connectors, started solinoid to battery, etc) and the readings were 9.02 to 11.44 and kept jumping all over the place. 2 hours later, I checked again, the battery was 12.7 and everything else was 11.4 solid, not jumping around, but still won't start, no noise or clicking at all. Still no headlights or stereo and dome light is dim and shuts off when turning the key. Tried to start in neutral, nothing. Shifted back to park, same thing.

Sounds like a bad battery. I don't know how old it is (doesn't really matter) one of the cells in the battery has a bad connection to the cell next to it. If you can check across the pos to neg posts with your multimeter and have some one try and start it or turn on the headlights and I'll bet the voltage drops way down with a load on the battery. Seen it many times.

Thanks Longbed for the reply. The last time this happened was a month ago. I was able to jump start it and no further problems until today.

Re: Truck won't start - Help!!!

Thanks for the help guys. It turned out to be corroded battery terminals/cables. Cleaned everything real good with sandpaper and like magic, she starts right up and runs like a champ.
