driver window issues
On my 83 when I roll down the window the front edge comes out of the weather stripping almost 3/4" when the window is all the way down. I replaced the window regulator today and it is still doing the same thing. When I roll the window all the way up it fits nice and snug along the front and back edges. I made sure the window track is tight and in the right spot. What else could I check? My windows are power. The door is not original to the truck, it has 1984 on it and the truck is an 83. The top of the window stays level too when rolling the window down. Any help/direction is welcome.
Jim

Re: driver window issues
Could I have the wrong glass? I notice 73-80 is different from 81-87. The PO put this door on it.

Re: driver window issues
I seem to remember the only difference is the glass thickness. The 73 to 80 is thicker at a 1/4" and the 81 up is 3/16".
the channels maybe not set right. With the regulator not attached to the glass is should slide to the bottom of the door without any help and should remain aligned. It sounds like one or both channels are adjusted too wide at the bottom

Re: driver window issues
I have them both pushed towards the center as best I can. Could my channel brackets be bent?

Re: driver window issues
I doubt they would be bent that much I would think they would cause other problems too. Could you have one of the lower mounts in the wrong hole in the door shell? Or possibly the channel is wrong for the door. You might want to compare to the other door. I would pull the trim on the right door and eye ball everything to see if there is something different between the two.

Re: driver window issues
I think I found my problem. The forward channel the window rides in has a slight twist that actually forces the window out about 5-6" down. I am going to see if I can "untwist" it.

Re: driver window issues
So I bought another driver side door from a 85, I noticed the glass in my door is way thicker than the 85's. I put the 85's glass in my door and she is nice and smooth and does not bind up or pop out of the channel. I guess the glass was replaced at another time with glass from an older door.
