bumper guard bolts?
I took off the bumper guards from the bumper i just bought. 1 bolt on the bottom is already snapped and the carriage bolt holes at the top are stripped. Anyone know how to replace the bottom bolt and fix the carriage bolt hole?

Re: bumper guard bolts?
only ideas i had were to drill out bottom hole and find a replacement bolt. not sure what would fit in that hole though.

Re: bumper guard bolts?
You could weld up the carriage bolt slot and then file/grind it back in shape...the other drill/heat/easeout or drill and tap

Re: bumper guard bolts?
I had the same thing. Apparently this is common.
I used a 1/16" cutting disc on a grinder and cut the bracket out, leaving about 1/4" of the ends still attached to the sides of the bumper guard. Then I drilled the broken stud out, and welded a bolt on the back side. Sprayed it with weldable primer and re-attached the bracket piece thingie. Leaving the 1/4" on the sides keeps the welding heat away from the chrome.

Re: bumper guard bolts?
Yes welding will damage chrome...but the slot your welding up can't be seen..just grind off chrome plate and weld,, then spray with some good primer..some one at some time or other hooked a chain to one of mine and pulled sideways on it..you can only imagine what it looked like...after I fixed it you can hardly tell it..
