My newest project 1972
Hey all, I am on this site about everyday, just reading and dreaming about the one day i get to drive my "finished" truck.
This is the newest addition, 1972 chevy cheyenne. My plans for it are to redo this body, and put it over on my K20 frame, this needs floor and rocker patches, and maybe some other things in that area, and a good cleaning. I will eventually have it painted up nice with nice wheels and tires, I drive my k20 occasionally now, This truck will be a trailer puller, and weekend warrior, My dream is to have a big block, nv4500, 33-35 inch tires and 2-4 inches of lift, i have all the parts for this now. I just have to figure out the time issue!! enjoy this, and i may post pictures on this in the future, or start a build thread when the time comes!! I was on here under a different name and lost the info, but i didn't post much just did a lot of reading, a special thanks to the guys that have the patience to help us guys out!! |

Yep, pretty warm out there. Member JDL is in Agency, and there is Indian113 in Monroe, Dieselwrencher in Prarrie City and quite a few guys in the Des Moines area. I buy most of my parts from Arts Classic Truck Parts in Indianola. Art is a nice guy and he owns three '67-'72 Chevy trucks and knows his stuff.... If you need any used parts I have quite a bit of stuff laying around... LockDoc

Re: My newest project 1972
Well with life any everything that has gotten in the way, my truck was on hold, I even tried to sell it at one point with no takers, so recently I have gotten back to work on it. I got busy drilling spot welds so I can separate the back of the floor from the back wall of the cab, as I am going to replace the rear brace. The floor pans in the rear corners need replaced, and the bottoms of the pillars, and the front brace also needs replaced.
When I started on this in the last week or so I drilled the spot welds and got the floor lose, and in moved where it shouldn't have, the floor stayed out and the back of the cab dropped, WHOOPS, so I spent about three hours this morning lining it back up and putting the doors on and checking alignment of everything and it is really close to being right back where it was, so now I am going to move forward and start replacing parts... |

Re: My newest project 1972
Nice project! It looks to be in pretty good shape for an Iowa truck. Hopefully we don't get any of that white stuff they're talking about tonight.

Re: My newest project 1972
Ya I'm dreading the weather, I've got to move livestock to northern Iowa tomorrow, such is life, I thought that this cab was horrible...its a lot of work anyway, and if it hadn't come with all the patches already, I would have tried a one piece floor on it, May next one will get that for sure!! If you do get some of that snow, stay safe!!
