250 to 283 engine mount confusion... PLEASE HELP!!!
Hi all! Well, my summer project before school starts is take the old tired 250 out of my c-10. I pulled the engine and tranny and already bought a Muncie 4 speed and a 283 sbc. So here's my confusion - how do I go about mounting the 283 in the engine bay? I have the mounts that go down and have the polyurethane on top, but am I missing something here? All that's there is the polyurethane squares on top of the engine mounts. This is my first time I've pulled and engine. So I'm guessing I'm missing something. Any help would be great, I just need some guidance. I have to have this truck done by 8/11/15 so I have a school truck. Thanks a bunch guys!!!!

Re: 250 to 283 engine mount confusion... PLEASE HELP!!!
there should be 4 holes on the insulator(rubber mount). 3 on the one side which will coincide with 3 3/8 nc bolt holes on either side of the block. there is the centre hole in which I believe take a 7/16 bolt down through the perch. if there are no holes on the side of the block that means that you have an early sbc from 55-57 which mounted from the front of the motor

Thanks Ron! Well, this 283 came out of a 67 camaro. There appears to only be one hole on the insulator. What do I do now?? Thanks!!!

Thank you Ron!! But unfortunately, in my ignorance when I junked the 250 the mounts went with it. Having said that, where can I get some that won't cost me a arm and a leg? I already checked LMC and they're pricey

Quote:
the 34-0316 rubber eng mount from LMC is $6.95 each. what would be a reasonable price for you?. the polyurethane are $39.?? each which is still not that expensive. the rubber will do you quite fine. you may find someone here on the board might send you some free old ones. the shipping is still going to cost.. if you had put down in your location as 30 miles from somewhere instead of nowhere you might have a neighbour on this board who is close by that may have some ron |

Re: 250 to 283 engine mount confusion... PLEASE HELP!!!
Just go down to your local auto parts store and pick them up. Those engine mounts were used from '63-'72 in the C/K 10,20 and 30 trucks. I believe the number for them is 2882
