Two Questions About Installing New Seat Cover

I bought it from Brothers and it's made by PUI.

I need your thoughts & input on:

1 - The instructions given on the Brothers web site(and others)say to reuse the steel rods from the old cover. But I don't see a way to reuse them on the bottom cover. I do not see an opening to slide it in and there is an excising "cord" that runs in the edges where the steel rods go. The cord doesn't seem very sturdy. However I'm inclined to think the cord is there to be used instead of the steel rods.

2- When putting the bottom cover which do you attach first with the hog rings, from or back? I started with the front & then spent 2 hours in the heat wrestling with it & got nowhere ( the seat won by TKO.) Now, it looks to me like it would better to attach it at the back first.

I've got a friend coming over tomorrow to help out. I just want to make sure I'm clear on the above two concerns.

Thanks

Re: Two Questions About Installing New Seat Cover

I don't know, but I'd be looking at the frame, springs, etc. for rust and at the condition of the foam. Since you say cover I'll guess you mean bench.
Since they're work vehicles the driver's side is normally beat and the inner bits blown out. I'd be looking online for articles, vids, and tutorials on reupholstering as well as fixing the framework. Just fitting covers isn't easy to get right.

Re: Two Questions About Installing New Seat Cover

I reused all the rods in my new cover, had a place seen into the cover to slid the rods through. I started at the front, didn't work well. Pulled it off and started at th back. I won round 2! Much easier

Re: Two Questions About Installing New Seat Cover

The passenger side is in good shape. The drivers side had a broken spring, the one on the side that pushes up on the top springs for support. I replaced it. Everything else is in good shape.

Tommys72 thanks for info. After the struggle, it seemed to me it would easier pulling down over the thicker foam in the front in pulling up against it. I'll try again tomorrow and break out the plastic sheet & zip ties if needed.
