Craigslist Syracuse - 1966 GMC w/Service Body

Looks pretty good. Says it was stored since 1971.

I'd wash it down...tune the engine up. And Use it!

I agree with TJ, that would make a fine work truck! Looks like it just needs a bath and tune up and would be good to go.

Re: Craigslist Syracuse - 1966 GMC w/Service Body

Id be curious to see how many miles were on the clock with only 5 years of run time.

Re: Craigslist Syracuse - 1966 GMC w/Service Body

I don't mean to get too off topic here, but who puts a 5 year old truck in storage and leaves it? I know trucks weren't as expensive then as now, but still. If I had an "extra" 2010 3/4 ton whatever I would likely be trying to sell it rather than rat hole it somewhere. I mean we're talking probably $15k or more.

The guy could have died young. Perhaps his wife never moved it after it was parked.

Re: Craigslist Syracuse - 1966 GMC w/Service Body

I remember collecting newspaper for a school fund raiser when I was 10. 1979. We stopped at a lady's house to pick up her papers. She opened the garage and I saw my first ever '63 Vette. Had never seen a split window before. I had to ask her what it was. She told me and went on to tell me that her Husband bought it new and passed in 66. She told me how she never drove it but still had the dealer come pick it up for regular service.
These days when I come across something like the 66 truck, I tend to wonder what its story is all about. It always makes me think of the paper drive lady and he Husbands Vette.

Cool story.
Yep, it happens.
I remember I beautiful 65 Impala back in the early 80's parked in an old lady's garage. Same thing. Her husband died and that's where it stayed.
Another was an old Galaxy 500. Brand new condition.

Re: Craigslist Syracuse - 1966 GMC w/Service Body

I'm really curious about this truck. I don't see any logo or lettering on the door. I wonder if it could be a state, county, or city vehicle. Maybe stolen and hidden?

I'd love to take a looksee, but it's an 8 hour round trip for me. Probably impossible to export it without clean paper anyway. Inquiring minds want to know...

A lot of vehicles were left sitting when people went off to war. God Bless them.
