How to Install Hood Hinge Springs

Figured out a way to install hood hinge springs with not much trouble:
A) Tape up edge of hinge ( to help with paint scratching )

C) Pivot up hinge and attach spring. At this point their will be no tension on spring.

D) Now the fun part. Pull on hinge and pivot down, you will be putting tension on the spring. Align the hinge to the bolt hole and thread in the other bolt CAUTION ! you will have to be careful so you don't cross thread the bolt. Leave bolts loose and remove tape, then tighten hinge ALL Done!
I strongly recommend gloves, and safety glasses for this task. Also, my truck will be a daily driver, so a few scratches don't bother me. But if you are building a show quality build, this method may not be for you.

Re: How to Install Hood Hinge Springs

I bought the cheap hook tool with my new springs. took 2 sec to put the spring on and everything was bolted up. Nice to know another way, thanks for the tip.
